Inserting audio and video into WPS Presentation slides enhances your presentation by making it more engaging and dynamic
Whether you’re presenting a classroom lesson, pitching to investors, or designing a training course
multimedia elements can help convey your message more effectively
First, open the presentation and go to the slide intended to contain the audio or video
Ensure your media file is stored locally in a compatible format like MP3, WAV, MP4, AVI, or MOV
To add sound, click on the Insert tab in the ribbon at the top
Inside the Insert menu, locate the Audio icon and select it
Two alternatives will be displayed: Choose Audio from Your Device or Stream Online Audio
To insert local audio, pick "Audio from File" to access your files
Navigate to the folder where your file is stored, select it, and click Insert
You’ll see a compact speaker emblem appear where you placed the file
Reposition the audio icon by clicking and dragging it to your preferred spot
To modify playback behavior — like auto-play or click-to-play — click the speaker icon and access the Audio Tools panel in the ribbon
Adjust settings such as repeat playback, conceal the icon in slideshow mode, and control sound intensity
Video insertion works in much the same way
Go back to the Insert ribbon and select the Video option
Two choices will appear: Video from File and Online Video
To insert a local video, select "Video from File" and find your clip
Open the folder, click the video file, then confirm with Insert
A preview image of the video will be displayed on the slide
Just like the speaker icon, drag the video’s corners or sides to adjust size and position
To modify playback settings, click the video and access the Video Tools section in the ribbon
Set how the video starts — automatically, on click, or looped — and whether to mute the sound
Choose a custom preview image that appears prior to playback
This feature helps avoid a blank or black screen before playback
Be aware that embedding large video files can significantly bloat your presentation, potentially slowing it down or causing sharing problems
A better approach is to link to the video file externally
When using links, the presentation points to the external file — keep both files together in one folder during transfer
To link instead of embed, check the option in the Insert dialog box if available, or manage it later through the Properties panel
Before presenting, switch to Slide Show view and check that all media plays without errors
Ensure the media syncs correctly, the volume is appropriate, and there are no loading lags
Never move just the presentation — always include the media files in the same directory
The software includes built-in trimming tools for both audio and video content
so if you only need a portion of the file, use the Trim feature under the Audio Tools or Video Tools tab to remove unwanted sections
Finally, remember to keep your multimedia elements relevant and purposeful
Don’t cram slides with multiple media files — it overwhelms viewers and dilutes impact
Use high quality files to ensure clear sound and sharp visuals
and always consider accessibility by providing captions or transcripts when appropriate
These practices empower you to create dynamic, engaging WPS slides that leave a lasting impression
